Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is the fourth edition of the popular horror game franchise that will make you remember all those nights you spent worrying about what was under your bed as a kid.
Other games in the franchise let you play as a security guard in a pizza restaurant, but this one puts you in the role of a small child. That poor kid wants nothing more than to get some sleep, but you'll find that's impossible as seemingly adorable little stuffed bears and other animals come out to play. Instead of watching security cameras like you did in previous editions, this game asks you to keep an eye on the two doors in your room, the closet, and the area underneath your bed. As your eyes flick back and forth across those areas, don't be surprised if your heart beat speeds up.
As with other games in the series, Fast Nights at Freddy's 4 features a killer soundtrack and sound effects that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether it's the sound of your own breath, the creaky noise as one of the doors opens, or the telltale sounds of footsteps, you may want to look away from the monitor instead of continuing with your game.
The full game comes with several levels. It features a story that puts you in the shoes of a little kid who just celebrated at the same pizza restaurant from the other games. You must keep your eyes out for all the animals that followed you home if you hope to get through the night. While the first two nights are easy enough for anyone to play, the later levels become much more difficult. You may need to reach for your flashlight every few minutes to keep those animals away from you.
One issue that some have is that this game isn't nearly as exciting as the original. All of the action takes place inside one single room, and you have less to do than you did in the other games. The game is very scary, but some may find that it lacks the jump scares found in earlier editions. If you want a game that will remind you of your childhood and leave you frightened of closet doors and your own bed, though, you'll love playing Five Nights at Freddy's 4.
